Trivia Night: Fado Irish Pub

Sunday, May 31, 2015

If you know me at all, you know I LOVE trivia. I think all those random facts and all that irrelevant information is actually really interesting. Thusly, I'm a sucker for Trivia Night at just about any restaurant. It's fun to try out different ones because some are harder than others, or even geared toward an older audience. So trust me when I say this won't be my only Trivia Night post.
Fado Irish Pub in Buckhead is wonderful in general. They have delicious food and the coolest atmosphere. When I first moved to Atlanta this was one of the first places I ate at. When the weather is nice, you MUST sit upstairs on their rooftop deck. It's classic Irish Pub food, and honestly you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. I ordered their chicken tenders and my friends got their fish and chips cup and some loaded chips (their fries are seriously amazing).

What would Trivia Night be without beer? I ordered this cool Belgian beer flight which had a sample of Stella, Leffe and Hoegaarden. It was really cool and it's great if you want to try some beers you haven't before or if you can't decide!
This is probably one of my favorite trivia spots. The questions aren't super easy, but they're also not so difficult that you have no fun. They usually have a good mix of categories and in between the rounds they have trivia that's on a sheet of paper that has pictures or slogans or songs. This time we had a sheet where we had to identify actors from a screenshot of them in a movie and a sheet with infomercial tag lines that we had to match to their products (think Kaboom and ShamWow).

We didn't do great, but we didn't get last which is always a great goal to have! It was really fun and we love coming back to Fado for trivia.

New Things I learned in Trivia:
1. What 2001 Patriots quarterback suffered a career ending injury in 2001 to pave the way for Tom Brady to start his career? Bledsoe

2. What famous criminal made so much money that he spent $2,500 on rubber bands each month just to bundle all of his cash? Pablo Escobar

3. What country shares the same flag colors as the Ivory Coast but in the opposite order and begins with the same first letter? Ireland

Hope you're enjoying the last day of May!

Atlanta Adventures: Orpheus Brewing

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Photo from www.orpheusbrewing.com
Atlanta has so many small breweries, and I’m excited to try them all! Orpheus Brewing is a small brewery set at the end of Piedmont Park. The inside portion of this brewery housed the pouring room with large windows peering out over the distillery. It wasn’t too crowded so getting beer wasn’t an issue, but on a more crowded day it might be difficult with only the one bar available to pour.
We headed outside to a two-tier deck overlooking the park since it was nice out. The brewery is dog friendly so my two friends brought along their dogs (a Golden Retriever and a Dachshund).  There were plenty of other dogs and everyone was very friendly and happy to be there. They didn’t have a huge selection, but we really enjoyed the beers they did have on tap.
I would for sure go back, the proximity to Piedmont Park is a huge plus for me. You can make a day of it: spend some time at the park, taste some beers and then go to dinner at Park Tavern!
I wish I had more pictures, but sadly I lost my phone before I could make this blog post and it had most of my brewery pics. The ones I have are from my camera or from the brewery’s website where noted.
Have you been to Orpheus before? Let me know what your favorite beer is!

Top Five Friday

1. Bose SoundLink Color Bluetooth Speaker

I've been needing to replace my old Bose speaker for a while now, and this past week I gave in and bought one at Target. I love Bose speakers and this one cost less than some of their big ones. I chose the mint one because it's pretty and matched my room. I've been loving it though. It sounds great and it has an Aux plug-in so I can use my iPod. Yes,  still use my iPod, it holds way more music than my phone and it lets me have more storage on my phone. This speaker is also portable since you can charge it, so I can take it into my bathroom and listen to music when I shower.
2. New CDs

I bought four new CDs when I went to explore Criminal Records in Little Five Points. It was really cool in there and I found some CDs I'd been wanting to buy! I got The Mowgli's Waiting for the Dawn, The Griswolds Be Impressive, Passenger Whispers and Ben Howard Every Kingdom. I love having CDs, I like having something physical to hold on to.
3. Electric Tea Kettle

I've been wanting an electric tea kettle since Christmas and I finally got one not too long ago. I love it! I've been trying to drink tea since it's good for you and pretty tasty, but I hated using our dirty pot to boil water. This electric tea kettle heats up super fast and it stays clean since there's just water in it. Pictured with the tea kettle are the green tea I'm currently drinking and my adorable whale mug!
4. Tent Dresses

This is my latest tent dress purchase, meaning I now have three of them! I have this stripped one, a navy blue one and a black one. I love that I can dress these up or dress them down, they're super comfortable and they're so easy to throw on! They're also popping up everywhere, I bought each of them separately at different stores. They're my go-to outfit for everything!

5. Pocket Notebook

I found this super cute notebook at Target, where I find all of my super cute notebooks. It's the perfect size for my purse so I can tote it around with me wherever I go. I write down anything that pops into my mind, and then I can go back and look at it for inspiration. I absolutely hate having this great idea, or amazing thought and then losing it an hour later and never being able to get it back. It's the perfect solution!

Can you believe it's already May?! What are you looking forward to this month? I can't wait to see my little brother graduate from high school!
